34km 6-8 hours
Through endless olive groves, white villages and the quiet heart of Andalucía.
The Vía Verde del Aceite cycling route follows a former railway line through the gentle landscapes of inland Andalucía – across olive groves, small valleys and quiet countryside. We ride one of its most beautiful sections, from Luque to Lucena, where the landscape opens into endless rows of olive trees, forming long, contrasting patterns of green and earth tones across the sunlit hills.
Along the way, you see white villages such as Zuheros, Luque and Cabra across the hills, standing out against the olive groves – a characteristic feature of this part of Andalusia. You cross old railway viaducts, follow the line through open valleys and pass former stations that now serve as peaceful stopping points along the route.
Around halfway, near Doña Mencía, there is time to pause – a natural place to rest, take in the surroundings and enjoy a simple picnic before continuing the ride.
