36km 6-8 hours
Hidden among Andalucía’s most striking landscapes – rock formations, valleys and open countryside.
One of the most beautiful Vías Verdes in southern Spain, the Vía Verde de la Sierra runs through the mountains in the north of the Cádiz province, from Olvera to Puerto Serrano. Originally a railway line, it has been transformed into a 36 km cycling route connecting the villages of Olvera, Coripe and Puerto Serrano.
The route passes through a varied and largely untouched landscape, with a rhythm that changes gently along the way. You cycle through a series of tunnels – the longest over 900 metres – across old railway bridges and viaducts, and along quiet valleys and riverbanks.
One of the highlights of the route is the Peñón de Zaframagón, a protected natural area and home to one of the largest colonies of griffon vultures in Europe. It’s a place where the landscape feels open and wild, yet easy to explore at your own pace.
